2. I think Plato’s theory in the 4th century on aesthetics is most important because of his idea of beauty. He knows all things aren’t beautiful and that the object in which is beautiful will attract its viewers. He didn’t take into account aesthetics of art, and he didn’t necessarily like artists and poets. He didn’t write about art, he wrote about what he saw. He also believed that art was an act of treason. He thought this because art is merrily an idea, and the object in which we call art is a copy of that idea, so the artist makes a copy of a copy. He didn’t trust poets either, he felt that they spoke of things that they could not prove to be true and he thought only philosophers new reality from illusion.
3. I think that Changeux and Ramchandrans views of aethetics are both very interesting. However i think it was hard to understand Changeuxs explanation becuase of his accent and his comparison to the brain. I like how he explained the brains emotion in art. And for Ramachandran, he tended to ramble on more then explain, But i did like his explanation on Plato and his view of things beautiful and being copys from the original Idea.
4. The readings related to the text by the explanation of aesthetics and emotion. Also the explanations on viewers and their importance in their perception of the piece of art. The text and the two speakers all explained art and aesthetics very differently, i find the text much easier to understand.
5. I think that the films were very long and hard to understand, however they did add depth to my understanding because of the different view points from each speaker. Now that i have read the text and watched both videos my view on art and aesthetics is much more clear.
