Art Making/Material Exploration #1: Exploring Value and The Subtractive Color Theory Blog

Color Wheel
Value Scale

1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel.
I enjoyed creating both the value and color wheel. However i found is more difficult to mix the colors the correct way for the color wheel.
2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why?
I like working with graphite more because if you make a mistake you can easily erase. With the acrylic paint if you make a mistake you have to redo the painting.
3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies?
I think the most important thing about these studies is to fully understand them before you attempt them. I know that if i didn't fully understand how to mix the paints before then i wouldn't have done a good job. And if i didn't understand how use graphite then i would have not gotten the same result. Understanding studies is very important.
4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
I like to visually see the outcome of the project before i do it, so i enjoy watching the videos because then i know what is expected from me. I learned how to properly mix the acrylic paints and also how to "pick up" graphite with a kneaded eraser.
